Complaint towards Airtel Dish TV -Fraudulent call
Another Fraud call received by an airtel user
Today morning I received a missed call on my airtel post paid mobile number from an unknown number +923477465753. As I receive lots of ISD calls of personal/ professional nature I dialed back to find out who it was. The voice on the other end answered saying that I( my mobile number) had won a lottery of Rs.10,000 (Ten Lakhs) from Bharti Airtel and Dish TV and to win this prize I need to call Senior Advisor of Bharti Airtel Mr. Rakesh on 00923035703959 and I can dial the same number from my phone now.
I dialed up to find out what this is all about and the voice on the other side …( in the background I could hear a baby crying) said they were form Airtel’s Bandar Head Office in Mumbai and I had won a lottery of Rs.10,000. They asked my number and complete name to confirm and put me on hold for 30 sec…and came back to say I indeed had won the lottery and to win that amount I need to buy Recharge Coupons of Dish TV worth Rs.9,000 but only those that Have Shahrukh Khan’s photograph on them. I need to buy these coupons in 2 hours and call back the same number to give the details of the coupons to them after which they will arrange for the cheue to be dispatched to me ..
the cheque I can collect either from Mumbai head Office or the team can come to my residence …I was asked to choose 1 option . I said since I am not in Mumbai…the team can come to my address…they then asked for my address and I gave it. They said the team will come by 9:00 pm and before that in 2 hours I must buy the coupons and give all details to the same person. However I was told to keep my phone in switch off mode till I buy all coupons and the Airtel people will check my number and trace all calls, sms that will be made to/from my simcard. I can also not exchange this sim, copy the same, use fraud sim of the same number and if any such thing is found I will lose my award money. I was also told that the Rs.9000 coupon money that I will be spending will also be refunded back to me later.
I am amazed and shocked at such fraud calls…why will big companies pay me any money and why am I to switch off my phone and why buy Rs.10,000 coupons.
Further when i called up the Customer care number of airtel – 121 and asked the Customer care representative to confirm me the Airtel Mumbai’s Head Office address – the representative’s answer was – we do not have information on it!!!
On talking to another Customer care representative form the Airtel Mobile division – I was told that they had in the past received such customer complaints of fraud calls and Airtel had sent out some warnings to their subscribers – BUT I DID NOT RECEIVE ANY SUCH WARNING from AIrtel till date!!!!
I hereby formally lodge a complaint on this forum and request a prompt and strict action by the forum, Airtel and Dish TV on this and keep me updated on the proceedings of the matter.
Pls Note: I am an Airtel Post Paid Mobile, landline and IP TV subscriber. I am not a Dish TV subscriber.

same type of calls come to me plz take som actions regarding to that type of fraud calls comes from +92 series.
i have recharge for espn 1 days back but
till now it haz not come
same type of call I have receive on 02/05/2010 and as such spent 5500/- . it is requested to stop such fraud activities

Guyz it is all of pakis. +92 is country code of pakistan they call Indian people and made them fool.they never call you back and told you to call them back. Do not reply or call back to call comes from +92 country code.remember India country code +91.
same type of call I have receive missed call on 26.05.2010 at8.18 am and then i call back at +923472351727 and they given me a new number to contact Mr. Mohinder Pal Singh at 00923477474204 and advice me to purchae dish TV coupon worth Rs.15900.00 and noted my address to deliver the price at 7 pm. It is requested to stop such fraud activities

Hey ,i got the same call on 06/06/2010 around 7.30PM telling me tht i have won 10 lakh rupees and i need to buy 3000 rs worth distv coupons and then they will transfer the money to my account… thnx fr the post… i hv also informed airtel abt tht fraud calls tht i gt. me too hv the airtel postpaid number.

Yesterday 6th june i received a call at 4:00 pm from sum sanjay singh from the following number +923476668307 sayin that i have won a lottery of rs 10 lacs from airtel company in coalition with dish tv and “etisalat”….i was told to buy coupons of dish tv worth rs.12,5oo with shahrukh khans photograph on it.. and later rs.27,000 as the cheque signing fee…they are giving missed calls and when you call back different people talk with the same number…i have also recorded the conversation for my reference and for airtel company to take action as a proof…anyone interested to take action against these fraudulent calls may call on my number 9967067900..!
They have also taken my ICICI BANK a/c number..
note: i am an airtel prepaid user and tata sky subscriber not a dish tv subscriber…!
These people should be punished severly!!!!
AIRTEL COMPANY ETISALAT AND DISH TV should take severe action against these frauds…your name is in danger…!

Thanks to all above, i could easily identify that this was a fraudulent call.
I got missed call from no. +923427505586, when I call back then a person say me you have won Rs.10,00000 lottery from airtel company and he told me to contact Mr. Pritviraj Chawan. I haven’t guess about this number where it is from.
Please take serious action against tehm.

Similar offer. they even gave an SBI bank ac number.This time and instructed me to pay the tax of Rs. 15000 first. BTW was the person always talking in a punjabi accent ????

And nos were 00923477465961 and 00923476665465 and names were Sanjay mishra and Sanjay verma respectively.
And this time it was for vodafone customer and when I spoke with Vodafone customer care they did not give validity information of callers and their answers were misleading also.
Thanks to eveyone who spared some time from his busy schedule and provided helpful information here and thanks to Airtel response also for declaring these calls as fraudulent.

I am Paresh Prajati.I am from Ahmedabad,gujarat,India. I am using airtel dish tv since 3 months. After 3 months airtel seup box is not working and everytime it is taking more time to load around 15 mintuts and still showing loading and initializing.
I have complaints manytimes for that issue to airtel dish tv customer care. But no body are respnoding even i have called many times from my end, but from their end no body are calling , informing and responding.
this sounds like a bad business service and airtel dish tv service is not capable to handle customers. Company is not inrested to giving the ggod service and even response to the customers. Yes company is more intrested when customers need the new connection, but not intrested whn the customers are in trouble. This is my real time experience. I have called many times but they are not supposed to called me for the confirmation and committment.
this is company’s very bad service. I don’t like it.
I have spoken with one of the executive and i told him if Airtel company is not capable to handle my requeset then i will return setp box and comapny need to return my money for the box, then he told me company will disconnect you connection and will not give money back.
This is the real business of airtell company. I would like to say comapny is fooling us.
If i will not get response in this matter then i will populate company’s this type of the service to all the users by blog, mail and sites.

I also got a call from this numbers and asking me to speak to some prithviraj to claim the lottery. but the moment he said lottery, then I realized, that its a fraud call. I was trying to find out where is thus num from, then I got to know through this forum..

Got similar call from on 6th Oct 2010 from 923044041062. Person on other side asked me to call on 923003732957 to activate this 10lakh lottery prize. And he asked me similar stuff about recharge vouchers worth 9900/-. He also said that Sharukh Khan will himself come to give me my lottery prize.
When i told him that I am not going to buy any such vouchers..and why airtel is asking me money for lottery..he said “Itni badi company pe toh vishwas rakhiye!!”
“Vishwas” my foot…!!
People be aware of such calls. Don’t reveal any personal information to them.
I request Airtel to take action against such fraud calls.

Today, i.e. on 15.10.2010 I got a missed call from Mobile no. 923424419547 at 09.03 Hrs. I waited for some time for 2nd call and called back at 09.16 Hrs. I was told by some Sri Vijay Sharma that I have won cash award of Rs. 10 Lakh and he told me to immediately contact his Sr. Supervisor Mr. Ram Singh of Mumbai Airtel Head office on no. 00923015153767 to know how to collect the prize money at home address. I tried but could not connect. I again called Sri Vijay Sharma at 09.23 Hrs. and told that the telephone no. does not appear to be correct then he told that this is computerised no. of Airtel Mumbai Office and asked me to contact immediately over given telephone no. of Mr. Ram Singh.
Having some doubt on this call I am giving you this information. Please intimate me if the call is genuine from Airtel office or it is fake call. Waiting for your reply.
on 20/10/2010 i got a missed call from 9234771518665 at 8:30 p.m ,when i called back there was a brajesh sharma speaking that your no. has award of Rs25,000,00 (25lakh) to collect your award call on 00923058383944 and our supervisior Mr.vijay sharma will provide you the details. When i called on the no. a person received the call and told your call is forwarding to Mr.vijay sharma he put my call on hold for 20seconds and on putting the call on hold there was the sound of airtel speaker that the airtel customer you have called has put your call on hold and i was told to purchase the sharukhkhan dish tv ITZ cash card worth rs 9,000 as a tax to be paid to government of india and is told to keep my cell in switch off mode till i purchases the card and not to speak to anyone about this.

today,2nd december, i also got a fraud call tellin me that my mobile no. had won 10 lacs lottery price..that person gave me one five digit no.. tellin it to be my lottery no… he said me to switch off my mobile n match that no.. with first five digits of number written on my sim card… n imagine i checked n both numbers were same… how crook these people are….then he took details bout me includin my license no… my address…n said me to buy dish tv coupons worth 6000…..luckily..i checked on net bout shahrukh khan n dish tv coupons n i read all above written by few friens… thatnks,,, but i m very upset with our system that how people try to make fool of the common man n make use of big names like shaurukh n airtel… n no action is taken against them

i too got a call today n this time its virgin prepaid! Told me to recharge with120 rs can call him tomrw at 8am.i m never going to do that!!!
guys pls beware .., i have also got calls from these number +92345336211 and +923479778557. but i became suspicious and cross verified.
first of all these guys don’t call, they just give miss call and people call back,thinking that these are important calls……these are all fraud people and yes these are from pakistan only……..
The biggest question is this,how these guys sitting in pakistan got our numbers…..
the only reason is that our service providers sell these customer information and mobile numbers in market……. there should be something needs to be done and it is a serious matter……
