yes you can. while you need 2g signal change settings in your phone. goto settings – network setting – network mode – select GSM network. When you need 3g change settings to UTMS.

Answering to many of you, it is possible to convert back to 2G from 3G with prepaid customers. You have to send one more SMS (tollfree) M2G to the same number 53733. CAn some of you can also share why you are planning to move back to 2G for the benefit to all.

In idea netsetter if we use 3g sim after converting it to 2g it give speed of 2mbps.
mind it bsnl sim must be 3g which should be converted to 2g, sim should not be 2g.
Idea netsetter should be unlocked to use bsnl sim in it.

No need to unlock idea netsetter as it is not network locked. You can just insert bsnl sim and start using it rightaway.

sory for all who r expecting to achieve 3g speed on a 2g sim after converting it to 3g. u can never achieve that..because basically there is a difference in the technology of 2g and 3 g sim..so even if u convert it to 3g, u’ll get 2g download speeds only..though the surfing speed might improve a bit.

the shop owner didn’t convert your sim to 3g. that 3gb recharge for 98 rs. is for 2g only. so perhaps he tricked you. contact customer care and they will confirm whether you have 2g sim or 3g sim activated.
